Norwegian explorer Liv Arnesen's fascinating account of her solo ski trek to the South Pole tells the story of a woman who battles, and conquers, nature. The story also weaves historical facts into the first-person perspective. Ann Richardson narrates the translated work in a gentle manner. You might not feel the winds whipping around Arnesen, but you get a genuine sense of her motivation as she crosses hundreds of miles. Richardson doesn't imitate anyone; rather, she helps the listener understand Arnesen, who embraces solo outdoor adventures.
