Lively Spanish music sets the scene for this South American adventure. Narrator Rebecca Soler introduces Coco, a bilingual 13-year-old who works in her mother's chocolate shop. When she and her former best friend, Leo, win a trip to the Amazon with their mothers and adoptive grandfather, Gali, listeners hear her excitement. Soler's young-sounding voice contrasts with the deep, rich tone of Janina Edwards, who narrates alternating chapters from the point of view of the sacred 300-year-old ceiba tree who is waiting for the young teens to save her from loggers. The two narrators effectively voice the human concerns of the story's kids and as well as the environmental concerns related to the rain forest. S.C. © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine
