For years, John Bogle has warned about the excesses of Wall Street. He says salesmanship has replaced stewardship, resulting in mammoth losses for ordinary investors. If Bogle were a social activist, it would be easy to dismiss this message, the focus of his latest book. But Bogle is the founder of the Vanguard family of funds and a highly successful investor. While hoping to influence policy makers, Bogle wrote his book for educated average readers. While there are points listeners might want to cover a second time, they won't miss the major points during the first reading, delivered capably by Alan Sklar. Bogle himself reads the lengthy autobiographical opening and closing. He has an inviting reading style that engages listeners on a personal level.
