      Well-known actor Brian Keith has a wonderful voice for reading these classic Westerns. Two "stove-up" (worn-out) cowboys, Dusty and Wrangler, are featured in these three novels. Max Evans, an award-winning Western writer, packs in accents, colloquialisms and Western philosophy, which Keith delivers with aplomb. Speaking in a relaxed, well-modulated voice, Keith distinguishes gender and regional characters easily, never straining or overplaying the changes. The abridgment of the novels is flawless, and listeners will especially enjoy the somewhat sad final story in which modern times catch up with Dusty and Wrangler.
